Barrie and District Association of REALTORS® (BDAR) ran an exciting initiative called The Support Local Campaign from May 11 to 22, 2020. This campaign was a fundraising effort to support local businesses through promotion and purchase of gift cards to help get through these times. The funds raised went to the Ontario REALTORS® Care Foundation which allows BDAR to donate funds to shelter based organizations in our region.
As COVID-19 continues to put pressure on the Province’s already stretched shelter system, the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation allows these organizations to keep their doors open during these uncertainties. These donations will reach the most vulnerable populations through more than 50 shelters and food banks across Ontario.
The campaign consisted of 4 prize categories and interested parties could purchase tickets for $10 for the chance to win in any of the categories.
The prize categories included:
1. Home and Garden - $50 gift card to Forgather Floral Co., $100 gift card to Bradford Greenhouses, welcome mat from BDAR’s REALTOR® Shop, $100 gift card to INHABIT Interiors and Design, and $50 gift card to Mimi’s pet grooming
2. Health and Wellness – 1 month at 9Round, Bath Lover Bundle from Two Sisters Natural, $100 gift card to Glow Day Spa, $50 gift card to HeadQuarters Salon and Barber Shop
3. Leisure – Twosome gift certificate for Innisbrook Golf Course, $100 gift card for Creative Café, $100 gift card to Crank and Sprocket, and a Drop-in Class at Bliss Ann Green Yoga
4. Food and Drink - $50 gift card to Dunlop St. Diner, $50 gift card to Chillz Dessert Lounge, $50 gift card to British Arms Pub, $50 gift card to RIPE juicery
Barrie and District Association of REALTORS® (BDAR) were able to raise $1500 for this initiative and it would not have been possible without the businesses involved, community partners and those who purchased tickets. “As COVID-19 continues to put tension on local businesses and organizations BDAR Realtors will continue to step up and support our community with ongoing initiatives and programs” says Robin Jones BDAR 2020 President.
